At Sanctuary One, people of all ages have the opportunity to volunteer on a real working farm and experience nature’s healing power firsthand. We offer educational tours that open people’s hearts and minds. We invite groups from schools and youth-serving nonprofit organizations to visit the farm for fresh air, exercise and hands-on service-learning. We help teens who are in legal trouble learn how to make better choices. We mentor interns who dream of becoming the next generation of care farmers. We promote the ethics of mindful, sustainable living. And we provide a safe, loving home to rescued farm animals and pets. It’s all part of a practice called care farming. Care farms like Sanctuary One demonstrate how farming for health can be an affordable, natural and effective means of healing people. They serve as models for treating animals humanely and honoring their intrinsic physical and spiritual value. And they illustrate how the environment that sustains us all can be steadily improved through organic and permaculture-inspired farming practices. At Sanctuary One, we envision a future where care farms are as commonplace in the United States as they are in Europe. For example, in the Netherlands there are more than 1,000 established care farms. Great Britain has hundreds, and there are dozens more in other European countries. We hope to enliven and motivate our visitors at Sanctuary One and, ultimately, inspire more Americans to start up care farms in their communities.

As a visitor to Schmidt Family Vineyards, you are greeted with fertile vineyards, sprawling gardens, lush picturesque pond, and a one of a kind tasting room that combines craftsman-style with Northwest elegance, a combination to entice and soothe the senses. Judy and Cal Schmidt, and the whole Schmidt Family warmly welcome you to enjoy the grounds, and taste and learn about Schmidt Family Vineyards wine.

Schultz Wines is a family owned boutique winery located in the beautiful Applegate Valley AVA of southern Oregon. We specialize in small lots of wines well suited to the warm days and cool nights of this region. We select premium grapes that are sustainably farmed and gently guide them through fermentation and aging with minimal intervention, thereby producing wines of exceptional complexity and character.

ScienceWorks is a fun, engaging science center where kids and adults can rediscover wonder. The innovative museum features interactive exhibits, an outdoor garden, live science shows and dynamic programs year-round. ScienceWorks offers educational programs for students and teachers, as well as public programs including workshops, lectures, birthday parties, summer festivals and science camps

Our 2-hour Segway tour is perfect for both those new to Jacksonville and city veterans. The two hour "Glide Through History" tour takes you on an adventure through Nunan Square where you will see gorgeous Victorian-style homes, past the historic courthouse and jail, up the hill to Britt Gardens and through the historic Jacksonville Cemetery, where you can catch a spectacular view of the Rogue Valley.

Park History and Plans: Mr. Skyrman, who died in September 2010, donated the property to the City of Central Point with the stipulation that it be used as an arboretum to provide for educational programs for youth from around the region and for public enjoyment. The site is unique in that Mr. Skyrman’s father planted a variety of shrubs and every tree species native to Oregon, including the largest gray pine tree in the state. The property also includes two structures, a log cabin the family built to celebrate the bicentennial in 1976 and the Skyrman home. These buildings will be used to house classroom space for various educational programs.

Slagle Creek Vineyards, originally planted in 1980, is a small family owned winery located at 1800 feet, making us one of the highest vineyards in the Applegate Valley. The high altitude, warm days, cool nights, gentle, south west slopes, and stony loam soil, give the wines their unique character. Slagle Creek Vineyards is now sharing a tasting room with LongSword Winery in the beautiful Applegate Valley. You can now enjoy our wines and buy directly at the tasting room.

Southern Oregon Speedway is a 3/8-mile banked dirt race track located near White City. The speedway is part of the Jackson County Sports Park, which also contains a shooting range, a drag strip, and a go-kart track.
