HIKING PEARSONY FALLS

Pearsony Falls Trail

Difficulty: Easy

Average Distance: 1.3 miles round trip, 196 foot elevation gain

Restrooms: Pit toilet at trailhead

Optimal Season: Year-round, weather permitting

Good for kids, picnics, trail running, day hiking, photography, dogs allowed with leash. Watch out for ticks and poison oak in spring and summer. Trails may become muddy or icy in the colder months. There are some dangerous ledges at the overlooks, please be cautious and supervise your children.

Take Crater Lake Highway (Highway 62) east for approximately 42 miles to Prospect Access Road on the right. Take Prospect Access Road 0.3 miles to Mill Creek Drive. Turn left on Mill Creek drive for 1.3 miles. Continuing on Mill Creek Drive, you will pass the Prospect Historic Hotel where they provide free maps to the waterfalls and other brochures for activities around the area. After your visit there, the parking area for the falls will be on your right across from the Prospect Store.

If you find yourself in Prospect, OR you don’t want to miss out on one of the most beautiful and picturesque waterfalls in the region, Pearsony Falls.

Pearsony Falls Trail is a quick out and back in Prospect along Mill Creek. There is plenty of parking. You can pack a lunch or grab something to eat from the Prospect Store across from the trailhead and enjoy your meal at one of the many picnic tables. The trail to the falls is a well maintained ten minute hike to an almost otherworldly mossy wonderland. Spend some time here to enjoy the views, put your feet in the water, and take some pictures. The trail continues after the falls for another half mile. This portion of the trail is less maintained due to COVID restrictions but does offer some great views of the Rogue River and the Prospect Bridge.

As you hike back you’ll notice some beautiful wild flowers in the spring and summer and beautiful fall foliage in the fall. Though accessible in the winter, the trail can be muddy or even snowy in the colder months.

Though short, Pearsony Falls is a must and a great first hike for those getting into hiking yet offers amazing views that even the veteran hiker will love. This is not one to miss.
