FAMILY FUN IN THE ROGUE VALLEY

At Sanctuary One, people of all ages have the opportunity to volunteer on a real working farm and experience nature’s healing power firsthand. We offer educational tours that open people’s hearts and minds. We invite groups from schools and youth-serving nonprofit organizations to visit the farm for fresh air, exercise and hands-on service-learning. We help teens who are in legal trouble learn how to make better choices. We mentor interns who dream of becoming the next generation of care farmers. We promote the ethics of mindful, sustainable living. And we provide a safe, loving home to rescued farm animals and pets. It’s all part of a practice called care farming. Care farms like Sanctuary One demonstrate how farming for health can be an affordable, natural and effective means of healing people. They serve as models for treating animals humanely and honoring their intrinsic physical and spiritual value. And they illustrate how the environment that sustains us all can be steadily improved through organic and permaculture-inspired farming practices. At Sanctuary One, we envision a future where care farms are as commonplace in the United States as they are in Europe. For example, in the Netherlands there are more than 1,000 established care farms. Great Britain has hundreds, and there are dozens more in other European countries. We hope to enliven and motivate our visitors at Sanctuary One and, ultimately, inspire more Americans to start up care farms in their communities.

ScienceWorks is a fun, engaging science center where kids and adults can rediscover wonder. The innovative museum features interactive exhibits, an outdoor garden, live science shows and dynamic programs year-round. ScienceWorks offers educational programs for students and teachers, as well as public programs including workshops, lectures, birthday parties, summer festivals and science camps

Park History and Plans: Mr. Skyrman, who died in September 2010, donated the property to the City of Central Point with the stipulation that it be used as an arboretum to provide for educational programs for youth from around the region and for public enjoyment. The site is unique in that Mr. Skyrman’s father planted a variety of shrubs and every tree species native to Oregon, including the largest gray pine tree in the state. The property also includes two structures, a log cabin the family built to celebrate the bicentennial in 1976 and the Skyrman home. These buildings will be used to house classroom space for various educational programs.

The Southern Oregon Historical Society, established in 1946, seeks to make history come alive by collecting, preserving, and sharing the stories and artifacts of our common heritage. Our properties include Hanley Farm in Central Point, the Research Library in Medford, and our collection of Southern Oregon artifacts.

The S.O.K. club takes pride in creating a family atmosphere where anyone can participate in the great sport of kart racing. Karting is the easiest and most affordable way to get started in motorsports. And there's a national caliber track in your backyard. Whether you're a fan or a racer - We want you to join the fun!  

Southern Oregon Speedway is a 3/8-mile banked dirt race track located near White City. The speedway is part of the Jackson County Sports Park, which also contains a shooting range, a drag strip, and a go-kart track.  

Takelma Park, located on 40 acres, including .38 miles of river frontage, is a popular spot among anglers during fishing season and rafters floating the river. The beautiful Rogue River flows along this county park, which features a boat ramp, CXT vault toilet, and a paved parking area with night lights. Located just north of Dodge Bridge Park, Takelma Park offers a convenient local getaway destination. Takelma Park is a perfect location for fishing, boating, rafting, or just relaxing the day away in a peaceful riverfront setting, away from the city.

Two small and beautiful glacial cirque lakes sitting on the Oregon-California border. Reaching the trailhead involves an adventurous drive through some of the prettiest country in the Oregon Siskiyou high country.

Kid Time Children's Museum offers a hands-on discovery space that stimulates brain development in young children, provides a fun yet educational experience, and promotes positive relationships among families. 

With over 55,000 square feet and 5 acres of training space, including classes, basketball courts, turf, child care and a sports cafe and pub, the Court House has something for everyone!

The RRRink is an Indoor offering a Pro Shop and Skate Rental. Whether you are a figure skater, ice hockey player or just want to skate for fun, the RRRink is the perfect place to lace up your skates and hit the ice. Private parties, classes and group lessons are offered.

The Santo Community Center is the first and only community center in Medford.The Parks and Recreation Department schedules classes seasonally and the facility, including a gymnasium, can be reserved for private use.
