Don't worry about searching for the sweet spots because we have snowballed a list of some of the best. Gather your boots, sled, best buddies and head outside!

Diamond Lake

The soft, supple snow at Diamond Lake Resort make it a popular winter destination among locals and visitors. Grab your tube, sled or saucer because there’s plenty of room for everyone to have fun on the hill. Diamond Lake is a hub of winter fun with seven sliding lanes, fabulous facilities and a friendly staff.

For a truly unique experience, tube down the slope under shimmering lights on Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays. 

The resort also offers 3-hour and all day passes, as well as discounts for families of four. 

Stay a few hours or all day for the best snowy fun in Southern Oregon.

Directions: Diamond Lake is about 70 Miles north of Medford. Take Highway 62 up from Medford through Shady Cove, past Union Creek and Crater Lake National Park. This drive is stunning and has a lot of gorgeous stops and viewpoints along the way!

Table Mountain at Hyatt Lake

Heading south? Table Mountain has an awesome sledding hill in the Hyatt Lake Recreation Area at the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. During the winter months, Hyatt Lake offers sledding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. 

Directions : 20 miles east of Ashland, Hyatt Lake is a portal to a plethora of winter outdoor recreation activities. 

Mt. Ashland and Grouse Gap Sno-Park

Mt. Ashland is the crown jewel of Southern Oregon. A mecca for winter recreation, Mt. Ashland has been a local favorite since 1964. 

There is plenty to do at Mt. Ashland, but twilight skiing is a must. It’s the best way to experience a beautiful Southern Oregon winter sunset. Twilight skiing starts at 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday nights in January, February and early March. When the lights go on, your journey of lights and snow begins!

While you’re in the area, head over to Grouse Gap Sno-Park for sledding. It’s just up the road from Mt. Ashland and a great place to hit the snow.

Directions: Head south on I-5 from Medford and take the Mount Ashland Exit just south of the Ashland City Exit. 

Crater Lake National Park Snow Shoeing

In an average winter, Crater Lake National Park receives 43 feet of snow! Ranger-led snowshoe hikes are a fun way to explore this winter wonderland while learning how plants, animals and people survive the harsh conditions.

This winter, snowshoe hikes will be offered on weekends and holidays from December 8 through April 28. 


Southern Oregon Holiday Market | November 8-10, 2019 Friday: 12-6pm Saturday: 12pm-8pm  Sunday: 10am-3pm

The Southern Oregon Holiday Market is the largest Holiday Artisan & Craft Fair in Southern Oregon… and we’re about to get even BIGGER! We’re expanding this event to all our buildings, adding more than 100 vendor booths! The Olsrud, Mace and Padgham Buildings will now host all the best!

Ashland Culinary Festival | November 7th- 10th

Join us in celebrating Southern Oregon’s food, drink, talent and creativity. Enjoy this delicious four-day destination event as 12 local chefs compete for Top Chef honor in the Top Chef Competition using local produce and a secret key ingredient and challenge. Have fun learning and tasting at culinary workshops throughout the weekend. Sample and purchase with over 30 food artisans, restaurants, award winning wineries and breweries.

Gingerbread Jubilee | November 23rd-25th

During the GingerBread Jubilee the Craterian Theater is decorated with three magnificent Christmas trees, garland on the grand staircase, hundreds of floating snowflakes, and nearly a thousand ornaments. The event captures a magical time of year, and is a wonderful way to support the live performing arts in Medford. Whether you bake a house, attend the gala, tour the theater, or volunteer to help during the event you will create memories that last a lifetime. 

Uncorked Barrel Tour | November 23, 2019  

Saturday 11am-4pm

17 wineries in the Applegate participate in this fun, self-guided tour.  Each winery will offer an appetizer and a wine for tasting plus an educational opportunity to learn more about the wine making craft. This event also provides a great opportunity to stock up on wines for gifts or parties. We encourage you to bring your friends, designate a driver and enjoy this great event. It's also the perfect opportunity to explore new wineries that you’ve never been to before.

Winter Lights Festival | December 7th 

Saturday 4:30-7:30pm

Kicking off the 2019 Holiday Season with a fun, free family friendly event in downtown Medford. Join Medford Parks, Recreation and Facilities along with Lithia and Fortunes Folly as they count down to the lighting of the municipal Christmas tree. Candy cane hunt, coloring Contest, Food trucks, face painting by Mermaid Kissed, SANTA and more! 

Providence Festival of Trees Holiday Party

Gala Dinner & Auction: Dec. 4th

Please join us for the Opening Night Gala and enjoy an elegant evening among the trees. Stroll through our magical Christmas creations to see an exquisite selection of live and silent auction items, including trees and wreaths.

Holiday Party: Dec. 5th

Exquisite cuisine and beverages will be provided by the Rogue Valley's pre-eminent caterers, restaurants, vintners, brewers and distributors. This joyful celebration will feature raffles, music and dancing.

Public Viewing: Dec. 6th-8th

Santa Claus will welcome children during all hours of public events (except for brief breaks to feed his reindeer). A photo of your child(ren) with Santa will be available for $5. There is no charge to visit with Santa or take pictures with your own camera.

2020 is the inanuaural year for the Bacon and Barrel Festival act the Jackson County Expo in Central Point. They will be providing information soon.
