Sherm & Wanda Olsrud have been in the grocery business for about 50 years, first in Eugene and then in Medford, Klamath Falls and Roseburg. The first store the Olsruds bought was a meat market in Eugene in 1956, which they operated until 1961. Sherm & Wanda then bought a 24-hour market in Eugene, selling it in 1967 to move to Medford. When Sherm & Wanda came to Medford in 1967, they bought the Thunderbird Market on Jacksonville Highway.

Park History and Plans: Mr. Skyrman, who died in September 2010, donated the property to the City of Central Point with the stipulation that it be used as an arboretum to provide for educational programs for youth from around the region and for public enjoyment. The site is unique in that Mr. Skyrman’s father planted a variety of shrubs and every tree species native to Oregon, including the largest gray pine tree in the state. The property also includes two structures, a log cabin the family built to celebrate the bicentennial in 1976 and the Skyrman home. These buildings will be used to house classroom space for various educational programs.

Slagle Creek Vineyards, originally planted in 1980, is a small family owned winery located at 1800 feet, making us one of the highest vineyards in the Applegate Valley. Southern Oregon Speedway is a 3/8-mile banked dirt race track located near White City. The speedway is part of the Jackson County Sports Park, which also contains a shooting range, a drag strip, and a go-kart track.
